While we're on this thread, does anyone have any examples of real-world
licenses which place a dynamic restriction on code use? For instance,
I'm happy to have my code used by anyone and everyone as they please
(i.e. public domain, BSD license etc), except evil satanic illegal
monopolies. How would I write a license to state and enforce that? I
don't want anything that said evil monopoly can throw millions of
lawyers at and win by redefining already well-defined English words, as
is their habit to do.
More specifically, I've taken the BSD license as my template and added
an extra clause, which states to the effect that no company deemed by
the code's author to be an anti-competitive monopoly may even view the
code, let alone use it or alter it. My thought is that it should be
pretty damn obvious to everyone whether or not they are or represent an
anti-competitive monopoly, but my fear is that some such monopoly will
plead innocence (or incompetence) and get out of it. Any suggestions?
