I have a syntax checker and an editor. Sometimes the checker wants to send a message to the editor like: "open file /aa/cc and select line 42".

This can be done with DistributedObjects or AppleScript (or are there some other ways as well?).

The question: which method is better, and why? Which is more future-proof? What are the respective advantages and disadvantages?

Gerriet.
