I use RBrowserLite :
1/ select USA 1 or 2
2/ Click on the link
3/ type command-L p-L to select the URL path
4/ When the link https// change to ftp// then type command-C p-C
5/ Stop the Safari connection with command-. p.
6/ Launch RBrowserLite
7/ Paste the copied ftp link command-V p-V (when RBLite is launched it
display the connection dialog, pasting in it copy everything at the
right place)
8/ Type OK then RBLite open the ftp site at the right place, you need
to select the folder where are the segments and choose the the Donwload
item in the File menu (the shortcut p-option-D doesn't work because of
it is a shortcut for the Dock...)
That's all
Works fine for me
Best regards
Gerard

Are you saying that Apple's FTP server doesn't support resumable
downloads? If that's the case, wouldn't the correct thing to do be to
fix that flaw?
OK, so perhaps the support in FTP clients in general leaves a lot to
be desired when it comes to resumable downloads, but perhaps that's
just a reason to use a more modern protocol to distribute files?
There's lots of them to choose from.
Well, I suspect the problem may have something to do with the expiring
passwords - after your connection got dropped, would you still be able
to get back in to resume the download?
Of course, I don't know, since I haven't really tried it...
