What finally did work for me was:
Connect using USA2 with my firewall turned off and using Safari, which
mounts ftp through Finder
Drag Drop ALL the files, IN ONE GO
go to bed :)
As they were dragged all at once, there did not seem to be a timeout
problem.
As for resuming downloads, yeah, I suspect the timeout on the password
may be a problem. But Safari supports resume so surely they could have
thought up something :(
Never mind.
I'm just hoping 1.2 will fix the annoying bug where it goes to start
compiling then doesn't do anything and you have to force-quit and
reload to get it to compile. That was the big annoyance for me :(
