That's unfortunate, probably maybe because most companies list all the
'talents' they can think of when writing a job offer. They must also
be clueless about the value of these certification classes.
To me a "certified XXX developer" line on a resume has a value of 0.

All other things being equal I give the benefit to somebody who has
bothered to get certification...
That doesn't imply that certification has an inherent value. But I have
found that if somebody is motivated enough to go and get certification
then they will be more diligent than somebody with a similar skill
level who hasn't bothered.
