In the posted documentation, it states that the importers need to be
placed in ~/Library/MDImporters or /Library/MDImporters. This means
that when you distribute an application you need to either:
a) include an installer of some type to put the importer into place, or
b) get the user to drag the application to the Applications folder and
drag the importer to the MDImporters folder
This means that the simple disk image with the application in it, and
the single step install will be a thing of the past.
Or you could just, y'know, ask the user at launch if they'd like to use
Spotlight with your app and copy the importer there using
NSFileManager. :)
