How do you save your documents? I came across the same problem when I set the atomically option to YES. When you don't use atomic save, the icon will stay at the
same place. This works for files at least. I hope this helped in some way

I have an application whose documents are "packages" (or wrappers if you prefer).

Annoyingly (very), when the document is saved, its position in the Finder (the icon coordinates) change. This can make the darn document really hard to find next time around, especially when my users place their files on the desktop. Even worse, many of my users have those really nice Cinema displays. Given that my users are human (ie they are messy; lots of icons on really big desktops), the fact that they can't count on their memory to help out ("It was right there! Where did it go?") makes this a nasty usability problem.

I tried using Carbon's Finder Interface routines to get the icon locations in the hopes of restoring them after a save, but they seem to always return {0,0} (is this documented anywhere?). Using AppleScript gets me the location of a document's icon in a window, but not on the desktop.

Note that this doesn't seem to be a problem if the document is simply a file.

Any strategies for dealing with this would be very appreciated.
