Yes, you're right there is no right answer. I'm hoping that a few
folks on this list will share their experience with us. For example,
if you have a Panther only product do you get many users requesting a
Jaguar version? I'm a single developer of shareware software so my
resources are limited. My time is most valuable!

You may want to take a look at <http://update.omnigroup.com/>, where we
provide aggregated statistics on the systems of our users (those who
choose to provide us that info, anyway). We added this capability for
exactly the question that you are asking.
At the moment, 93.8% of our users are running Panther, and only 6.2%
are still running Jaguar.
