Mike:

Probably the biggest problem you're having with not finding anything in the archives is that there is no such thing as "NSComboBox". I take it that you're coming from the Windows world (OS X calls it a "popup"). The control you want to research is an NSPopUpButton.

As far as forcing it to pop up programmatically, this isn't normal OS X behavior and I would strongly urge you to find another way to accomplish your interface goals. If you let us know what end result you're trying to accomplish with your interface, someone here may very well have a suggestion for an alternative you might not have considered.

  Hope this helps.

Hi,

I've been searching the archives and various sites for sometime but am
having trouble solving a couple of issues with NSComboBox. These issues
are:-

1. Opening the combo box programatically. Calling popUp on the combobox
displays the list but then the behaviour is messed up so this doesn't
seem like a solution. I've also tried performClick on the combo but am
unsure what I should be performing the click on. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

2. Handling backspace. I'd like the backspace key to also cause the item
list to be searched and select the nearest item - the same as typing a
normal character in the combo...

Thanks in advance

Mike
