Immense thanks for the info!
Sorry, for not mentioning the other authors, Scott's was the only
name that came to mind when enquiring about this, should've done
my research...
I'll just go ahead and order the book as originally planned. With
it and "Programming in Objective C" by S.Kochan I should be
more than well covered. The Tiger-specific things I'll just dig out
of Apple's docs (nice to hear You're actually working there now, Scott!)
Once again, massive thanks,
-filipp

Gah.. this isn't just my book, Erik Buck and Don Yacktman always
get left out, and that makes me feel very guilty.

I believe that's been discussed on this list before but if I
recall correctly, there are no plans to update that particular
tome. The material the current edition covers is still *quite*
relevant, however and it's still a book you should buy. Now.
thanks..
It simply lacks the latest technologies added in Panther and
Tiger (bindings, core data, core image, etc.) and I believe still
referenced ProjectBuilder rather than XCode.
yep
Now if Mr. Anguish and Mr. Buck have changed their minds, I'd
love to hear about it ... ;-)
I doubt there will be an update. Erik and Don are both hard at
work on other things. Me, I'm an Apple employee now, and it'd be a
conflict to work on the book. Not that I'd have the time to devote
3-6 months full-time for it anyways. I do write about Cocoa every
day, and you get the books for free (I'm in the tech pubs
department at Apple, working on Cocoa documentation as part of a
great team).

Hi gang,
Does anyone know if there's any plan to release a revised version
of this book any time soon? I've read a lot of good things about
it and will buy it anyways, but just thought if maybe I should wait
a while, seeing that it's now over 3 years old.
I'm a Cocoa and Objective C newbie (with a couple of years
of Java background) who wants to develop a native Mac OS X
application as my thesis work. :)
I subscribe in digest so a direct CC would be greatly appreciated.
Many TIA,
-filipp
