Seems to be a likely candidate, no?

But that there is the problem. It doesn't let you specify the type, and unless I subclass NSDocumentController (which I really don't want to do), then this is no different, really, than calling - newDocument:. I realize I forgot to mention that I have more than one NSDocument type in my app.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something?
