I apologize if I am sending this to the wrong crowd, I came across
a post on cocoabuilder.com that was asking about freelance
programmers, and saw that this list was very helpful.
I have recently come up with an idea for a small downloadable
program that I think could make a modest amount of money (Perhaps
$5/license, with a two week free trial).
The program itself is fairly simple, and I doubt it would take a
skilled programmer more than 10 hours to make it. It wouldn't
require any clever thinking to program, just knowledge about the
syntax. (As a side note, I'd like to include a simple copy
protection scheme, like a serial number, to keep people from simply
emailing the application to eachother. Is there an easy solution
to this?)
I have had some basic programming experience and could probably
piece it together using sample code from various websites, but I
doubt anything I create would be as efficient or stable as
something done by a pro. Unfortunately, as a college student, I
don't have a large amount of disposable income. What would the
going rate be for a programmer who would be up to this task? I'm
looking for someone with some genuine experience, as I will be
charging a small amount of money for the program and would like it
to be as professional and crash-free as possible.
Also, I was wondering if it would be worth it to design the
interface using Interface Builder, if nothing else as a visual aide
to show what I would like the final product to look like and what
options it should have. What is the industry standard way to
diagram a program (i.e., which window a certain button should open).
Thank you for your help,
Jason K
