NSTextView selectionAffinity - what's it for?

  • Subject: NSTextView selectionAffinity - what's it for?

Could someone help me understand what NSTextView's selectionAffinity is for?

I have a test project that displays the selection affinity as it changes, but I can't quite make out what makes it switch between upstream and downstream. I've read the documentation but it's not illuminating enough on the matter - some examples would be helpful here.

My test project is at <http://www.enigmarelle.com/SelectionAffinityTest.zip> if anyone wants to play with it.

Thanks,
John
