I'm happy to report that the "Services" facility is alive and well and still fully supported in Tiger. You can find documentation for it here:

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/ SysServices/index.html

It appears that iPhoto's MainMenu.nib is missing the "Services" menu item that's customarily present by default in the application menu. The problem may therefore simply be that there is no "Services" submenu for AppKit to latch onto and populate. I don't know whether this omission was intentional or accidental, but if you'd find it useful to be able to access services from within iPhoto, by all means please do file a bug report:

Thanks!

I'm looking at the recent iPhoto, and am noticing that there is no Services menu.

As a NeXT user and fan of the Services architecture, I am wondering if the concept
of Services (verbs operating on implicit selections in the open document) has been
deprecated. Or, in the case of iPhoto, has the service architecture been used to
implement some of the features (ie. Mail foto), and as such, sports an improved UI model
over the existing architecture.
