I have never tried this before, but since I'm running TIger on a
dual 2GHz G5 as well, I decided to give it a go. I'm on 10.4.1.
I picked a random app in my build results folder, in this case it's
a Cocoa app. I opened its Info.Plist with Property List Editor,
added a child called "LSMinimumSystemVersion" and left it as a
string with value "10.4.5".
I saved the property list and tried to launch it. "You cannot use
the application 'Books' with this version of Mac OS X."
Interesting. Yeah, that's the message I was used to seeing in the
10.2.x days.
While I didn't initialize my drive before installing, I did do a
clean install of Tiger so don't know why I'd be getting failures.
Hopefully the sys info report attached to my bug report can be of
some use.
I also tried repairing permissions and deleting the launch services
files (a couple of .csstore files in /Library/Caches and its plist in
~/Library/Preferences/. Nothing helped. Perhaps there is some file
in the "desktop database" that has gotten corrupt on me?
Well I'm glad that this is not broken for everyone. And it's really
not a problem for me personally (as a user).
