I think it's a system bug to since It only happens on the folder protected by file vault. I also find that another of my programs crashes when it runs out of the protected home folder. So there is something going on. I also use protected VM are you doing the same? Anyway, after copying the program to the /Applications folder it's doc icons worked fine. Now here is the part I don't get, This only happens on the g5, the g4 and g3 powerbook, both running filevault, don't have this problem.
At any rate, for the benefit of any one that might be reading this and having the same trouble, it does infact seem that in this case it is directly related to filevault.

Mark.

I have precisely this same problem. I'd been reading all these different posts that say it's as easy as 1,2,3 ... but right around Panther, it got progressively harder (though that was the time I started using FileVault since I use a Powerbook). I'm now on 10.4 and I just launched a new app recently that was quite simply REFUSING to acknowledge its document icons on my machine (even after clearing LS cache for the system and for every user account involved, rebooting, touching, sacrificing a live chicken while praying to a golden idol ...).

A test machine recognized it just fine. After running the app in my test account (actually, I had to touch it from the test account) without FileVault, it worked just fine. It *still* won't recognize the doc icons in my main (FileVault-protected) account.

  I smell a bug report ... ;-)

Some more information that might help.
I use file vault
It only happens on the admin account (Which was the only acct on the computer until tonight.)
I created a new user account and tried the app and the document icons work.
