I need to create an install program for a Safari (webkit) plugin that I have created in cocoa. I know how I'd do this on Windows but for the Mac I have no idea. The target OS is Panther. End users will download the plugin from the website (I assume) but we have a requirement for an administrator install. Anyone have any tips?

Just tell the user to put the finished plug-in bundle in the Internet Plug-Ins folder in the Library folder in their home folder (if they're all UNIX-savvy, in ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins). If you want to insist an administrator installs said plug-in, tell them to install it in the Internet Plug-Ins folder in the Library folder on their startup disk (/Library/Internet Plug-Ins). Your users will thank you for not forcing them to use an installer.

If you must use an installer, check out PackageMaker (part of the developer tools).
