If you want to access any object in an Interface Builder nib, use the "instances" view of the project window. The tree view icon in the right scroll bar gives you a hierarchical tree view of all instances created in the nib and lets you select things that you can't even see. Selecting views within tabs is no problem. The four squares icon in the right scroll bar will change back to icon view of the instances.
