The two files probably have different file encodings. Check the Format->File Encoding menu in Xcode. Note that using non-ASCII text in an NSString is not guaranteed to do anything sensible. To be on the safe side, you should use +[NSString stringWithUTF8String:] and set the file encoding to UTF-8. Or just localize the app.
