I have been thinking about something like this as well. Is there any
way of creating a link to a particular e-mail?
If you use Applescript, each message does have it's own unique ID,
but this is for the particular mailbox that' it's in. This means that:
A. If the message is moved to another mailbox it's ID changes
B. You'd have to store the message's mailbox as well as its ID in
order to link to it and even so, this may change!
Does anyone know of a better way?
Mike.

Hello,
I want my app to support drag-n-drop with Mail.app, so that dropped
messages become links in my document. When the user clicks the
link, I want Mail.app to open and display the message. Any pointers
on how to accomplish this?
I can query all sorts of information about the message, but it
appears I can't determine the file containing the (original or
cached) email. A spotlight search, by contrast, does something
similar to what I describe above, but it does so by indexing the
message files on disk directly.
Thanks,
Len.
