how do I kill and quit processes/daemons?

  • Subject: how do I kill and quit processes/daemons?

I want to control the Classic environment. To start it, I simply launch
Classic Startup. That starts a daemon called 'TruBlueEnvironment.'

Now, I can get the pid of that process easy enough. But if I use 'kill'
won't that force quit the app? I do want to force quit classic but I also
just want to quit it 'nicely.' So my questions, how do I force quit classic?
And, how do I 'quit' classic? I'm hoping there is a way to do this without
calling Unix, but I will if I have to.

Also, how can I keep tabs on TruBlueEnvironment? I want to be notified when
it gets killed. This might be very easy (I hope so) but it might not.

Thank you very much, Alan
