[ANN] DMG Packager 1.0

  • Subject: [ANN] DMG Packager 1.0

Creating a polished, styled disk image each time you create a new release of your software can be a tedious process, involving the use of up to eight command-line tasks with up to five tools. For example:

1. hdiutil create - make disk image
2. SetFile - make background picture file invisible
3. openUp - preserve Finder window styling
4. hdiutil convert - compress dmg
5. hdiutil unflatten
6. DeRez - convert SLA resource file
7. Rez - add SLA to compressed dmg
8. hdiutil flatten

DMG Packager lets you do the whole process within one simple Cocoa GUI application, from creating a dmg to preserving its window styling, compressing it and converting and adding an SLA.

I created DMG Packager for my own use, but have decided to polish it up and release it as freeware. Find out more at <http:// freespace.virgin.net/jeremy.dronfield/skoobysoft/utilities/ utilities.html>.

(Acknowledgement: DMG Packager incorporates a version of AMShellWrapper by Andreas Mayer. This class has been adapted to allow data output into an NSFileHandle, to facilitate conversion of .rsrc files by DeRez.)

Hope you find it useful. All comments and suggestions welcomed.

Regards,

-Jeremy
