Like Dennis Miller says -- "I don't mean to rant.. but"
I am working on a new application and I am just so frustrated with
the limited controls that are available in interface builder. The
controls I'd like to have are the ones Apple uses in things like
iTunes. I am particularly interested in the segmented control that is
used to show disk space usage on an iPod or AppleTV.
I see many developers roll their own controls--yet I have yet to find
any good examples on how to do this. It is not really covered (that I
can find) in the developer documentation or on the web.
Now with applications like Disco and others the "trend" has been to
produce more and more non-standard UIs as that is the mark of late
for an application to be cool. At least that is what I observe.
Standard aqua based UI - especially without custom controls leads
people to believe the application is old. Even Cha-ching has what
appears to be custom controls.
So.. is the answer for me to go ahead and see what Xcode 3 has for me
or should I beg you guys for the "inside knowledge" on how to make my
own custom controls?
I'd appreciate your comments.
