I am working on a new application and I am just so frustrated with
the limited controls that are available in interface builder. The
controls I'd like to have are the ones Apple uses in things like
iTunes. I am particularly interested in the segmented control that
is used to show disk space usage on an iPod or AppleTV.
I see many developers roll their own controls--yet I have yet to
find any good examples on how to do this. It is not really covered
(that I can find) in the developer documentation or on the web.
Now with applications like Disco and others the "trend" has been to
produce more and more non-standard UIs as that is the mark of late
for an application to be cool. At least that is what I observe.
Standard aqua based UI - especially without custom controls leads
people to believe the application is old. Even Cha-ching has what
appears to be custom controls.
So.. is the answer for me to go ahead and see what Xcode 3 has for
me or should I beg you guys for the "inside knowledge" on how to
make my own custom controls?
I'd appreciate your comments.

If you need to implement custom Controls, You can also Make them
available to other apps via interface builder.
