I've experienced the same thing at a clients site (G4, Mac OS 8.6 ColorSync
2.6.1), only we didn't even use a CMYK profile there.
We started with a file in Adobe RGB, and printed it out to a profiled Epson
1200, using the Space popup method to apply the profile. Source Space set to
Adobe RGB (1998).

This used to work great in PS5, but in PS6 it gives some very strange
colors.
If we use the Convert to profile in PS6, results are perfect (like in PS5,
using either Space or Profile to Profile to apply the profile).

We have run Profile First Aid (custom installed with CS 3.01) on the
profiles, and all seems to be fine. We have tried to remove all profiles but
the relevant ones (working Space and Epson profile), same problem.

On all our own machines on the other hand, we can easily print by setting
the Space popup, works like expected.

I'm not sure how to fill in a bug report as I can't reproduce this on my own
machines.
