I really have to throw my hat in with Andrew here. Someone, perhaps
him, wrote a while back how a 6500k monitor gave a more accurate
rendering onscreen to a 5000k viewing setup. I calibrated up to d65
from my d50 setup and quite simply everything started to fall into
place. I use a ColorSavvy CM2s spectro and ColorMouse Colorpicker,
d50/2 degrees sampler, to upload hard spot colors into apps. Now what
I see in my d50 setup renders as close to accurate on my d65 cal
monitor as my blurry eyes can see.
I tasted the difference...so I made the switch.
