Anyone know of printers in the NYC area who are color managed to ICC

colour managed with ICC methods
Printers that would need a high bit file would be few and far between. If
you were going to Hexachrome or other added spot colours this may be the
better way but for normal 4 colour printing Adobe 98 contains more or less
the full SWOP gamut. Your carefully calibrated and profiled monitor will not
though as there are some differences albeit minor. Since your image can be
better judged by no one other than you have confidence that even if passed
on as a tagged rgb A98 file the printers job or rather the person
responsible for separations will be trying to best separate what is in the
file NOT adjust your rgb colours. Some prepress houses that accept 3 colour
files actually do better conversions from Lab if they don't really know what
different tagged spaces mean.
Shortly there will be a reasonably priced Mac based Best Color rip for
making sure that your separated images are good before handing them off.
Hope it works out well.
