Hi there,
I'm a commercial photographer in New York in my first situation where my
client insists on me scanning and color correcting our last shoot together
after seeing a demonstration on my sysytem. She's been frustrated in the past
by a lack of control once the transparencies leave her hands and wants to send
out files only on this job. But she's afraid her designers will balk at files
generated by the photographer as many printers still insist on scanning
transparencies in house. I'm pretty comfortable with color management after
working with it for a year, and feel my digital work is up to snuff, but I
have two questions:
It seems to me the most conservative approach will be to deliver tagged 36 bit
RGB (my working space is Adobe RGB 98) and let the printer make final tweaks
if needed, then downsample and convert to their own CMYK press profile? I can
provide ink-jet "guide" prints, but not proofs.
Anyone know of printers in the NYC area who are color managed to ICC
standards? Suggestions please!
Thanks,
Dave King
