[OT] Where is imovie?

Was I dreaming, or was there once a free download of iMovie? I searched the Apple site and only found version 2, a $50 download.

If it was once free, can I get it from someone who downloaded it? All I need to do is use FireWire to get some home video off a Sony DCR-TRV320 digital VCR that I borrowed.
