The calibration software is actually the easy choice... determining what
monitor to buy in a fast changing market is more difficult. First decide if
you prefer Triniton (Sony) tubes, or Diamatron (Mitsubishi) tubes. The latter
are gaining a lot of fans. Then see who has the size and specs for that basic
tube at the best price. If the master company (the one that makes the tube)
has it for close to the same price, and they should these days, then get it
from them. Then get PhotoCal and a Monitor Spyder from ColorVision at
colorcal.com, and calibrate it. The whole deal should cost you well less
than a similar spec monitor without calibration would have last year.
