The simple solution is to make the imaging monitor the main monitor (where
the menu bar is). My system is setup that way and I find it very efficient.
The menu bar as well as the options pallet stays on the large display while
all of the pallets are on the smaller monitor. The menu bar and options
pallet takes up very little screen space and its close by so you're not
moving over large distances to reach those things that are needed
frequently.

But more to you're point... I was one who posted a while back about having
problems with PS6 seeing the wrong monitor profile on my dual monitor
system. I sorted the problems out without ever really figuring out the
cause. However I learned a couple of things in the process that might help.
Photoshop 6 should make use of the correct monitor profile on both displays
but I'm not sure how you confirm this. You're seeing Photoshop list the
monitor profile for your pallet display because that's where the menu bar
is. I'm not sure that means that its not using the correct profile for the
main display as well. When my system was screwed up, it was very evident
that PS6 was using two different monitor profiles for each screen. If an
image was dragged from one to the other, it would noticeable change (due the
fact that I had one BAD monitor profile). However, it wouldn't always
change immediately. I think it would only update the display after some
simple operation was performed on the image. You might want to test by
setting your imaging monitor to some oddball profile and see if PS6 screws
up the display as it tries to use that profile on that monitor.
