I've worked on a number of the billboard printers, and frankly I've found
that they are usually a bit "noisy" (artifacts within the screen area) as
well as having a low screen. I've tried 6 and 8mm apertures, scanning and
not scanning and have found them to work, but my finest results have been
done using 16 or 20mm apertures (like on our 938) these have consistently
worked for me, and my customers.
Cool. I didn't realize they had this aperture size. Now if you could
only automate them. Any plans there?
There is a handy reference on our web site
that relates screening vs. aperture size by the way:
http://www.xrite.com/HelpDesk/Showpage.asp?FAQNr=540
this was taken from CGATS 4, where the lowest screen rule is 65mm - sorry.
This is a good reference. I wish it would go right up (or down) to
the larger aperture sizes. Do you have any information that looks at
this the other way 'round? Like the largest screen suggested for
certain instruments or aperture sizes?
Thanks for the info.
