Chris Murphy <email@hidden> :
...from a safety standpoint you're wrong.
The Mac OS GUI, SCSI, 3.5" floppies - these built the portable color market.
OpenDoc was a good idea.
QuickDraw GX was a good idea.
OS-level CMM services are a good idea ... or were ?
You are right, I'm not questioning that.
It's better to say "use the Adobe engine
because it has fewer bugs; and when you can't use it because Adobe isn't
sharing, then you'll have to use something else,
Again you're right, but the point is still that it is better for
everybody if Adobe places it's CMM up among the rest. I don't like
the idea of a 600 pound gorilla telling the market that only it's own
banana patch grows fruit with the right ripe yellow -:).
but I think it's outside the control of those who
would like to release it to the public
This I think is worth a thought.
BTW publicity is a tool to apply towards a common end. In any
disagreement there is an underlying agreement on the frame of
reference, as I've said before. It's getting better, and right now I
hope Distiller 5 will come out OK.
