Jan, you sketched the usual black and white picture again.
Forgive me, I didn't realize that discussing non-Epson alternatives was
frowned upon here.
I'm perfectly aware that by becoming your own integrator, you can eke out
good prints from an Epson.
My apparently-missed point is that other companies provide all-in-one
solutions that perform MUCH better than Epson's company line -- solutions
that approach the best eye-of-newt and ear-of-toad alchemy/witchcraft
solutions that you have to cobble together to get consistent results from
an Epson printer with third-party substrate, third-party ink, and
third-party color management. It is interesting to hear that some Epson
users have turned to Roland media, though.
It's kinda like the Mac/PC debate: Macs (Rolands) are for people who like
to use computers (printers), PCs (Epsons) are for people who like to play
with computers (printers).
