Unless one needs to makes that change and then restart,
which I didn't. I did however re-launch Monitors.
If your system is choke full of extensions then the Monitors Control
Panel (often, not always) needs a reboot similar to that required by
Extensions Manager.
Is there a specific sequence in which those steps have to occur?
The problem isn't that the wrong custom profile is coming up on the wrong
monitor. It's that the Monitors Control panel cannot even see the Optical
profiles.
Have you tried re-copying the profiles to make sure they didn't get
corrupted on the way over? And, if they are fine, I would think you
have a MonitorControl Panel conflict with aliases ...(see my first
email)...also do a custom find on alias. You may have a stray out
there causing you some grief. I use OptiCal and I load their profiles
on my old laptop, give them as gifts to family, friends, etc no
complaints. Not gloating...just noting. :}
Yes, I'd love to understand more about those mysterious 256 and 257 icons in
the display folder. I currently have four icons in that folder, two are
aliases that point to the other two:
The electron19b (1) alias points to Display Profile 256
The electron19b DP256 profiles are actually factory provided LUT
(LookUpTables) provided by LaCie...basically indexed color used as a
starting point for visual color calibrators like Adobe Gamma, Default
Calibrator, etc...which by the way should be turned off if you are
using a LaCie 19b because the 19b alias and its nefarious 256 table
will return every time you idly hold your mouse over it in Monitors
CPanel or activate LaCie software (USB) which came with the monitor.
My understanding as to why they do this is irrelevant ...I guess. And
it doesn't appear to happen to all machines. We have a G4 which does
and a G4DP which doesn't, which causes me to always suspect
extensions...
The NSB1107U (2) alias points to Display Profile 257
Same thing but the only time I've seen this is when I've run the
LaCie USB module software overtop of itself...an interesting
phenomenon I haven't been able to repeat...oh well, when in doubt,
kill it. In the Colorsync Display Folder there can be only one.
Joel, if you can shed any light on the matter, I'd sure appreciate it.
Sorry for the delay. Damn paying clients are driving me batty...but
Snape wouldn't know anything about that now would he. Sitting about
in his chaise lounge swinging his snifter gently over rosy pictures
glistening with droplets of morning dew freshly plucked from the
belly buttons of taught young...
