You can choose a white point and a black point in OptiCAL, as well as a
gamma. Beyond that I would recommend against messing with the profile to
attempt to match it to your output. Instead you should be viewing your output
through a proofing conversion that allows the output profile to take care of
this. If this does not match, then editing one of the oputput profiles'
preview would be preferable to misadjusting your monitor.

I created a linear grayscale profile in OptiCal with custom WP/BP and then use it as a saved target for this purpose...but only for one specific HP inkjet used by one of our graphic artists. I can recommend it is not a solution, but a down and dirty workaround which is not somthing I would rely upon for film or high end output.

Also (CD?) how does one go about editing an output profile preview?

I ask because for oversaturated colors on canvas I am currently using USWebSWOPv2, which has an excellent preview for adjusting colors to match output to my overly large custom canvas profile which desaturates bright reds in soft preview PS6. To date I only edit XYZ WP/BP directly in data as the profiles kick out good results, have downloaded DoctorPro, played with CBEdit demo, but cannot find any literature on editing preview, intent tables, etc.
