Try this:
there seems to be an issue of the brightness getting beyond
adjustment on those screens
I'm not sure about the Graphite, but this used to work on the
older AppleVision's, which were the predecessors to the current
models. Thomas Holm told me this and it used to work on my
beige monitor...
Launch the monitors & Sound control panel and click
"Color" to access the window where you set white point, etc.
Now double-click "Factory Default" in the Settings list. This zaps
the LUT in your graphics card and returns the monitor to its raw
state - except for the brightness which defaults to 50% for
AppleVision / ColorSync monitors. Now you should trash the
preferences for M&S and the ColorSync panel.
Now Select the Geometry instead of the Color window, and
doubleclick/Command/Alt/Factory Settings (or try without the "Alt"
key, I'm not sure about that). This zaps your monitor geometry
settings AND your colour settings.
After this you'd need to calibrate and profile the monitor...
IF this doesn't work I'd try to Reboot the machine while holding Cmd. + Alt.
+ P + R until the machine starts itself. Their will zap the Parameter RAM
which frequently is the cause of monitor related issues.
I'd try running the Colorsync calibration [built in] first as it
may have the capability to pre set the hardware white point for
you, then try preCal to see how well the Apple calibration went.
then Optical.
