Optical and brightness target

Hello to all,
I'm new to this forum, so I apologize for probabily you' ve already handled
the argument in past time and for my poor english too.
My little problem is about Optical by Color Vision. I use the 3.1 ver. If I
work with it and "old" Apple monitor (the white kind), no problem, but with
the new generation especially the latest grey model come with G4, often I
can't get the right brightness (it doesn't reach the target) by instrumental
calibration (precision mode).
If I use the standard mode I can obtain the target with no problem.
Someone say to me is just because of the "AppleVision" software that give
problem (but don't give me solution), someone other say if I set the same
value for "gamma" and "color temperature" I chosen in Optical in Monitor setup
before to perform the calibration there will be no problem: I tried but the
problem is still there.
N.B. I usually work with a serial X-Rite DTP 92 (and for G4 I use Keyspan USB
adapter)

Anyone have the right answer? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Please answer in scholastic level english. Thank you a lot !

Regards.
