Keep in mind the Eye-One *Pro* package DOES NOT allow you to create
profiles. You either need to get the Eye-One MATCH package or get the Pro
version and add ProfileMaker 3.1. I know it's pricey, but do yourself a
favor and get the ProfileMaker full package which includes a decent profile
editing tool (none of the Eye-One packages include profile editing). Also be
aware that the limited presets with Eye-One Match probably will not give you
enough usable options for the Epson 5500 unless you're simply creating RGB
profiles thru the Epson driver and using their media settings to control the
ink. An "uncontrolled" 5500 will require total ink limiting of probably less
than 160% TAC. i1 Match only gives you preset ink limits of 400% and 240%
for inkjet CMYK profiles as I recall. ProfileMaker will let you set any ink
limit down to 100% along with full control over black generation.
Don't know about any "compatibility" issues with the 5500's inks unless
they're talking about the limited CMYK profiling options in i1 Match (which
is why I strongly recommend ProfileMaker). Since you're likely getting the
non-UV i1, do yourself a favor and stick with "non-UV" papers. Epson Premium
SemiGloss is one but Archival Matte is not!

Don't think so but I'll defer to CDT on that one.
