Dear list,
We sell and provide ICC profiling solutions in the UK and we want some
advice on profiling the BEST RIP. Normally we use a combination of
Colorvisions ProfilerPRO and the KODAK Colorflow to generate and edit
profiles. This works very well for every RIP except the the BEST.
It appears the BEST RIP only supports 16bit profiles. If you supply an 8
bit one generated from ProfilerPRO, all the calibration goes out of the
window and the RIP ignores the profile. The result is a complete mess.
Kodak colorflow generates 16bit profiles, but (unless anyone can shed
some light) we can't set the black generation at a high enough starting
level to stop the profile using too much black ink. It only allows us to set
the black start at 85, which is too light. Also the fixes target uses far
too much black for an inkjet.
We are looking for one of several solutions.
Can we change an 8bit profile into a 16bit profile for use on the BEST
RIP?
Is there a way of getting an 8bit profile to work on the BEST RIP?
What is the best software for generating profiles on the BEST RIP?
Many thanks
Lee Badham
