that's what I'm hearing.
well, my problem is not with Adobe's native format. that i could absolutely
understand. We get a lot of submissions as JPEGs, as we are working with
photojournalists all over the world working with all kinds of slow internet
connections. Although JPEG is not the most desirable format, it is a
good compromise for neworthy material. I have a hard time being OK with
the fact that i can not read a JPEG generated in 6.0 in 5.5. And before
you go on wondering if this might just be a bug in the particular
configuration
of the machine i am working on, a sample of this problem was sent to
another proffessional user who had access to both versions and he also
could not read the 6.0 files in 5.5.
also, i read another post saying that this info didnt come from Adobe
support. well, I am not sure what Adobe is supposed to be telling us,
but I spoke with Customer Service a few minutes ago (thank you to the
original poster who got me thinking about it again!!!) and they basically
told me that , yes, this is the situation, and that it was too bad. i
then asked for a supervisor who took the info down and said he would "bring
it up and get back to me" but i am not sure what this means.
basically, the reason that i find this so frustrating is that we can not
be expected to shell out a few hundred dollars everytime Adobe adds some
features. Yes, the enhanced color workflow is very nice. BUT, it is
not neccessary for my office right now, and we certainly dont need all
those added effects and cool text stuff. If 5.5 works great for someone,
there is no reason for Adobe to snowball us into spending money everytime
they release a new version.
just my humble, very frustrated opinion. i guess this is what happens
where you are a lurker, when you finally have saomehting to say it comes
out sounding very loud!!!
