It is not a "different" HP5000, the problem is just the availability of
the pigment ink set for the 5000. You will be able to change (in around
20 minutes I think) between the different ink sets by exchanging print
heads, primers, ink lines, and ink cartridges.
There are two problems I heard of the Colorspan (non-color management
related ones): First when really printing with 12 different colors you
must limit your TIC or use a very good paper (in this case, the ink costs
will be very high). The technician who recently installed my HP 5000 told
me about a Colorspan user who uses to "prime" his printer every morning
by pressing onto every ink cartridge (they gotta be flexible from what I
understood) until the ink drops out of the print head, just because the
system seem to dry out when not producing. So you really have to have a
high troughput for this device to become economic.
