I'm not one to argue and my experience is limited to profiling only one
device, my Pictrography 3000. I made profiles for this machine using both
ColorBlind and Color Synergy 3.x and in this instance I found Color Synergy's
profile to seem both a little more accurate and a little more pleasing. The
ColorBlind profile still gave me a hint of magenta in the deep blues while
the lighter blues go cyanish. The ColorSynergy profile does not show this
and seems somewhat less edgy as well. The differences were slight. Maybe I
got lucky.
So I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to ColorSynergy 4.X or to buy into
one of the other more expensive products with an easy editor (because I'm
just not bright enough to fathom ColorBlind Edit) or just stick with what
I've got and buy Kodak's Custom Color ICC for editing less than superb
profiles.
What really worries me about ColorSynergy, beyond its being slighted by most
of the heavy hitters here, is that no one from Pictrographics seems willing
to come to ColorSynergy's defense. I find myself wondering, "Does this mean
that the representative from Pictographics, seemingly a highly respected
authority in these matters, feels that for a person in his position to
respond on this list would be ignoble, or does it mean that Color Synergy is
indefensible?"
