My recommendation is to take a close look at how UCR is generated. I am more
from the old school and when I want a max. black of 95 with a total ink of
300 I expect a max. black of 95 with the CMY components gray balanced under
the K for a total ink of 300. I believe this is reasonable. Proper black
generation is critical to quality separations.
My experience is not all the profile apps give you what you think you are
asking. I must point out that I normally profile large format inkjet and
devices that often have a very high density for black. I am not sure if this
is an issue with standard offset inks. So far Printopen and Colorflow (which
I just started to look at) handle black the way I like.
