Photoshop 5 and 6 should open your sRGB image identically , so you appear to
have a problem before even converting; are you sure that both are setup to
check for tags?. Are you using a hardware generated monitor profile in both?
Is "display using monitor compensation" turned on in PS5? Unless the two
version of the RGB file appear the same, and show the same numbers, in both
versions, then you can hardly discuss seperations. When you do get to
seperations, why are you using SWOP in one, and Cut Sheet Coated in the
other? Compare apples to apples, if you are going to compare. Both will
convert with the custom press profile, and both will convert with a SWOP or
CutSheetCoated standards based profile.
