profile, and why would I need one?
A Device Link Profile is usually a source profile using a selected source and
destination profile. in other words, the "Link" is a specific color space
transformation (i.e. RGB-CMYK) based on an input and output profile. A "device
link profile" can be used in any "Link Aware" scanner, RIP, or Printer.
The practical use is that with one selection in a "Link Aware" application,
the "DLP" links both input and output profiles in one profile. You would anly
need one if the RIP, Scanner, or Printer required one in order for icc
transforms to occur.
