I seriously regret that my post was so misunderstood! Robert, your take on
it doesn't reflect my intention, and I'm really sorry it came across the way
it did. Rereading what I had written, I can understand your interpretation,
so I regret not being clearer. Let me just clarify what I was intending
here:
1.) You had posted before that ColorByte and Praxisoft had severed
relationships, so I was simply curious if there was any news on the future
of the RIP: "I believe Robert Eversole mentioned that Praxisoft's
relationship with ColorByte, the developer of the Mach 1 RIP, has been
severed, so I wonder what the RIPs future will be. Any news on this?";
2.) I have had positive relations with ColorByte in relation to their RIP
development with Lectra, and wanted to share it: "I've had a lot of contact
with ColorByte and have been very impressed with their level of color
management knowledge. Someone certainly to look out for. "
3.) My memory of the reason Praxisoft had severed development with ColorByte
was that they weren't delivering on schedule, and this I consider to be
different from "technical" -- it could be caused by lack of capacity,
schedule conflicts, poor business management, etc.: "My understanding is
that the relationship was altered for business -- not technical -- reasons."
Here's an excerpt from the post of yours which gave me this impression:
"One former partner, ColorByte Software, recently posted that Praxisoft's
Mach 1 RIP is the ColorByte RIP with Praxisoft logos. This was true until we
severed the relationship in March 2001. The Mach 1 RIP was to ship October
2000 evidenced by its press release. For this, Praxisoft would like to
extend its sincerest apologies to those who experienced the numerous delays
of the final release. Due to the excessive development delays, Praxisoft
decided to terminate the partnership."
You can understand why I would have gathered the impression I communicated.
4.) When I wrote "Just thought I'd mention this after seeing some recent
posts on the list
praising the RIP," I simply was reminded of these matters by the prior posts!
I honestly was NOT trying to diminish the praise given. (And I am NOT
affiliated with ColorByte at all, by the way.)
This is the sentence I wished I had written differently. Honestly, it was
just a matter of being reminded and wanting to know what was up with the
Mach 1 currently. Please accept my apology and recognize that this was a
misunderstanding. I also now recognize these questions might have been
better asked of you directly. Also, I thought you reacted with unnecessary
and somewhat inappropriate aggression partially borne of frustrations I'm
not responsible for.
Regards,
Jeff Harmon
