I think Robert has hit the nail on the head with the final post.
Work out what you want to do, then see if the rip does it.
The hardest part is finding out what the rips actually DON'T do !
I tried the Mach 1 rip back in February, and found it was not at all what I
'needed' in a rip.
These are the 'features' that were missing from the Mach 1 I tested:
Mac clients to see a broadcasted AppleTalk printer.
Transferring files via folders and manually putting them in the printer
queue doesn't cut it for most production sites.
For the rip to set the total ink limits - not the profiling software.
I say this due to the fact that most profiling software does not go below
200% and some inkjet papers need less than 150% total ink limit.
I have heard about new versions, but none of my requests for an updated demo
have been answered, maybe because I'm down under ?
Also, I did not care if it was a mac or pc, and from experience, the BEST PC
version still has it over the mac version. This is due to the fact that you
can not build a base line on the mac version (yet) BEST are still working on
bringing the mac version 'up' to what the pc version can do, as BEST has
been on the windows platform longer.
Finally, The BEST does not fit all models, as it is sold as a 'one rip - one
printer' product. I have a customer running 3 HP3500 + 2 HP3000 + 1 HP5000
all from the one PosterShop rip.
I hope this helps those with questions, and gets me an updated demo of the
latest Mach 1 Rip :)

Although Mach 1 competes with BestColor, the two RIPs are very different.
