This is untrue.
If you create a new, white background, RGB document in PS 6.0.1 using:
1. Ekta as your RGB working space
2. Euroscale Coated V2 as your CMYK working space
3. Absolute Colorimetric as you rendering intent
4. Adobe (ACE) as your CMM
Drag your cursor over the white and you can see that your info dialogue
shows a c=0! m-1! y=4! k=0! separation for 255/255/255
Using Heidelberg CMM removes the 1% magenta but retains the 4% yellow.
Neither of the Apple CMMs have this problem.
We don't usually use Absolute rendering, but we have just finished the
images for a major ad campaign where Absolute gave us superior separations
compared to Relative and Perceptual.
We have always used Adobe (ACE) and this was the first time we had to select
another (we used Apple CMM) to avoid scum dots.
