Hmmmmm...... Not so much as a base line as a description for the
applications to follow so that they can properly convert or soft proof.
A profile doesn't "eliminate" the individual color quirks of the scanner,
just maps them out.
If I called you up to ask "How do I get to Cleveland?", you'd have a
difficult time unless I could describe to you where I was. Photoshop
needs to know where the colors are coming as well.
